Macs are known for being secure, but a few settings can make all the difference. Here are the essentials—in 10 minutes.
1. Enable FileVault
Disk encryption (Settings → Privacy & Security → FileVault) protects your data if your Mac is lost or stolen.
2. Update everything
System and apps: Updates fix vulnerabilities. Enable automatic updates.
3. A password manager
iCloud Keychain or a dedicated app: unique, strong passwords without having to remember them.
4. Back up your data (3-2-1 rule)
