Phishing: How to Recognize and Avoid Email Scams

Phishing remains the number one online scam. The goal is to trick you into clicking on a link or entering your login credentials on a fake website. Here’s how to avoid falling for it.

Warning Signs to Watch For

• A tone urgent or threatening (“Your account will be suspended”).
• A strange sender's address (Hover over it to check.)
• Some errors or a rough layout.
• A link which does not lead to the real website (hover over it before clicking).

Good Habits

Never click in a hurry. If in doubt, go to the website directly (not via the link) and log in as usual. Enable the two-factor authentication everywhere.
